Hi All, 

A Department for Transport Consultation has been opened – a Draft Accessibility Plan which sets out proposals to improve the travel experience for older and disabled people. The Government is seeking to understand what more needs to be done to improve accessibility, and ensure that everyone has access to vital transport links.

As you may know, NARPO has been campaigning through Later Life Ambitions to ensure that there is adequate assistance for older people on trains as well as necessary provision for the assistance and protection of health and safety for older passengers. We are keen to ensure that all our members have access to good quality, reliable transport services, with the necessary support and understanding of drivers and transport staff delivering these services.

We would therefore encourage you to respond to the consultation and share your views, whether this is on the subject of accessibility, travel costs, service frequency or staffing levels.
