Job Vacancies With the Bishop of Chelmsford

The Bishop of Chelmsford has two part time vacancies at Bishopscourt.

1. Driver

Job Vacancies With the Bishop of Chelmsford. The Bishop of Chelmsford is looking for a driver who can work with him on an occasional basis. It is unlikely that the driver will be needed much more than about twice a week, though there will be some seasonal variation. The journeys will be agreed in advance and will mostly be around Essex and East London with occasional longer journeys to other parts of the country. In addition the driver will be expected to come to Bishopscourt one morning a week for two or three hours to clean and maintain the car and undertake some small tasks that will usually require some driving, such as delivering the post. All other aspects of the car’s maintenance and servicing will be the driver’s responsibility. The successful applicant will attend the monthly diary planning meeting at Bishopscourt.

The remuneration for this post will be £12.00 an hour

The successful applicant needs to be trustworthy, well turned out, good humoured, flexible and be in possession of a clean driving licence.

2.  Estate Supervisor

The Bishop of Chelmsford is looking for someone who can supervise the maintenance of the estate at Bishopscourt. Set in four and half acres of land, Bishopscourt is large five bedroomed Edwardian property with a modern office building attached where four people work each day. The property is owned and maintained by the Church Commissioners, but there is a need for someone to be a contact person for contractors and others and to ensure a number of routine maintenance jobs happen each year. It is hard to quantify how much time this will take, and it will probably vary from month to month, but the successful applicant will be given a mobile phone so as these contacts can be made in his or her own time, and then it will be the Estate Supervisor’s responsibility to liaise with contractors on site when necessary, to keep the bishop informed of what is happening, and to liaise with the Property department of the Church Commissioners over all matters to do with the maintenance of the house and garden. The garden itself is looked after by contract gardeners who come in weekly. The successful applicant will attend the monthly diary planning meeting at Bishopscourt.

The remuneration for this post will be £12.00 an hour

The successful applicant needs to be trustworthy, well turned out, good humoured and flexible. Some knowledge and experience of maintenance issues would obviously be desirable, and some ability to undertake small tasks themselves a bonus.
