NARPO Chelmsford Update 30 April 2020
Our Branch website is at www.narpo.org/branches/chelmsford
You will find lots of information about the Branch including the latest newsletters and updates as well as details of forthcoming events. You can also link to the main NARPO site which has a wide range of useful information.
I Hope you are all keeping well during these difficult times, just a reminder that we are here to help if you are isolated, vulnerable or just in need of a chat. Our welfare officers have been doing a sterling job in contacting all our widow members to check on their general welfare and offer assistance, but we are also aware there are others who may be alone and in need of some support. So please don’t hesitate to call/contact us if you need anything.
Annual General Meeting
Please see below from our Chairman Bob Good
Your committee felt that it was important to hold our AGM in a timely manner to comply both with the national rules and to ensure we could continue to serve your needs in the year ahead.
We provided advance notice to all members, so that you could join the process and the AGM took place, via a conference call, on Monday 20 April 2020.
The main matters on the agenda concerned formal approval of the accounts for the previous year and election of a committee for 2020/21. I am pleased to say both were successfully accomplished.
Copies of the various officers reports can be obtained from our Secretary at: EssexChelmsford@narpo.org
I am pleased to confirm our Branch Committee for the coming year is as follows:
- Chair Robert Good
- Vice Chair David Hull*
- Secretary Sue Heaton
- Treasurer Andy Drane
- Membership Secretary Brian Ladd
- Welfare Officers Tim Stokes and Anne Walker
- Benevolent Fund Graham Furnival
- Newsletter & Website Editor Gary Sanderson
- Committee members Roy Bracey* and Martin Reed
Please do not hesitate to contact me or the Secretary should you have any queries or are in need of our assistance.
NARPO Annual Conference 2020 Cancelled
The NEC have taken the difficult but well-informed decision to cancel our Annual Conference this year 2020, which was due to be held in Plymouth on Friday the 11th September.
The decision was made after careful consideration of the potential health implications for our members, the current Government restrictions, the likelihood of them being lifted or relaxed and the potential financial implications of any cancellation.

The COVID-19 crisis has affected all of us – not just our physical health, but our mental health and our access to services too. We would like you to pass this email or link to your colleagues and those you represent. The regulator for the NHS, pharmacies, and care services in England is The Care Quality Commission (CQC). They have asked that disabled people and their families share with them their experiences through their Tell Us About Your Care campaign. This will enable the CQC to use the evidence they receive to help shape future policy with disabled people and their different needs front and centre.
Tell Us About Your Care is a chance for those NHS services to be recognised for their good works, and also to help improve the service where it is not so successful.
Please help shape our futures through completing the Tell Us About Your Care survey and then share the link with all those you feel could assist.
