NARPO Chelmsford Weekly Update 23rd Aug ’19

Financial Wellbeing Seminar 31st October

I have now booked and arranged a venue for The Financial Wellbeing Seminar. It will be held in the conference room at Essex Police Federation Offices, 82 Springfield Rd, Chelmsford CM2 6JY, 10:30 – 14:30 hours on Thursday 31st October. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided. Unfortunately, there is no parking available but there are plenty of car parks nearby in the city centre.

Approximately 20 people have expressed an interest which is near capacity, if you are now unable to come could you let me know, and equally if you would like to attend and haven’t yet expressed your interest please do so by email to Sue Heaton.

Peter Sharps meeting 12th October

Just a reminder regarding the event arranged for this get-together. This will take place between 10:30-12:30 hours in the upstairs bar at The Pavilion at HQ. This is a great opportunity to meet up with old colleagues for a natter over a coffee and biscuits and listen to some interesting speakers.

If this is successful which I hope it is, we are provisionally planning future meetings for 7th December where Paul Clancy is intending performing magic and 9th February 2020, so please make a note in your diaries. Again if you haven’t expressed an interest but intend coming please email me on the above address.

Joint Branch Meeting

A joint branch meeting was held with Southend and Colchester branches on 19th August. This has not been done for some time and it was a great way to liaise with our colleagues from around the county, and look at initiatives other branches do with a view to progressing Chelmsford branch. If you have any ideas/suggestions you would like to see implemented then again please email me putting them forward and the committee will discuss.

Eat Well For Less – Contestants Required

Eat Well For Less, the BBC 1 programme where Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace and award-winning greengrocer Chris Bavin are on a mission to help UK families concerned about the cost of their weekly food shop. They want to prove that it could still be possible for families to save money on their food budget without scrimping on taste and nutrition. They hope that by analysing the shopping habits of UK families, they can help to show where we can source the best and cheapest quality food.

They are looking for a range of families who would like to take part in the new series. Especially any retirees (either in couples or single), or their extended families who might be interested in taking part in the new series of Eat Well For Less.

Please see flyer here.

Flexible Income Opportunity

OccuTrace are involved in securing revenues for wholesalers and retailers in the English non-domestic water market. They do this by using traditional methods of data collection/verification which are enhanced using bespoke real-time mobile technologies.

They are currently looking to work with individuals across the country on different on-going and future projects.

Please see the attached document that outlines their requirements.

If you or anyone else you think might, be interested and wish to discuss this further please contact Alistair Milne directly by email or on his number noted on this document.

Everest Base Camp Opportunity

Is Everest Base Camp on your bucket list?

Apparently the trek to Everest Base Camp is the most popular ‘bucket list’ item – ever.

Suitably fit NARPO members now have an opportunity to make the iconic trek for a reduced price thanks to national child victims of crime charity, Embrace.

Taking place between 2 November and 21 November, and guided by Sherpa Dawa Geljen and his experienced team, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The all-inclusive price of airfares, transfers, accommodation and meals, is just £2,500, a saving of £350.

That’s all for now, have a great week 😃
