The Off Beat Post

EDITORIAL

Dorothy and I wish you all the best as we go through this unprecedented time and trust that the Police Family will help each other.

We have received many calls, emails, texts and made use of our computers to keep a smile on our faces.

Please do not forget those who are not so I.T. savvy and make contact with them.

The Off Beat Post is one year old and still enjoyed by many.

It is your stories and experiences. – Tell us yours so we can have a laugh or a reminisce!!!

WORDS FOR THE MOMENT

Ironically just before Christmas, I arranged for a bracelet to be made that would help me to deal with the dark times of my PTSD.
Little did I know how relevant these words could be to help us all get through these days of isolation and worry.

The Off Beat Post February 2020 Simply Stride

Stay CALM.
It is better for you and those around you
Be POSITIVE
Negative thoughts are destroying in themselves
Look to the FUTURE
What is in the past is done and cannot be changed so move on.

Whale, Oil Bee Blowed!!!

With Tony Everitt

Dateline, February 2006, Baja Peninsular, California, Mexico.

Marion and I were asked by our good friends Anne and Mark Denis if we would like to accompany them on a Whale watching trip in Mexico. With nothing else to do we readily accepted and found ourselves in L.A. at that time. We made our own way to San Diego (lovely) where we boarded a microbus together with all American travellers under the auspices of ‘Baja Jones’ who, after accepting $1,200 from each of us, for five days !!!! (what side of half-a-crown is that on?) drove us to the small town of Guerrero Negro ( Black Pirate – see below map) where there are three saltwater lagoons where the Grey Whales migrate to mate, give birth and nurture the young to protect them from the waiting Orca Whales. The Grey Whale has the longest journey from Alaskan waters to Baja to complete this event.

  1. Me in Yank mode! As you know, no Whale in their right mind can resist me! I am stroking raised hair follicles.
  2. “Aren’t I just lovely?”
  3. Our friend Anne showing her affections. Marion is to her right.

Not sure what sex this one is.

Kindest regards,

Tony
