Dear Members,

Our National Office has been approached by a TV production company, TI Media, which is working on a documentary for Channel 4 about the 1963 ‘Great Train Robbery’.

They are keen to contact any former officers who worked on any part of the Great Train Robbery investigation and would also like to speak to anyone who had knowledge of the individuals involved in the robbery, or of the ‘professional crime’ scene in that era.

The film will also look at a spate of mail robberies and thefts from trains and mail vans between 1960-63 in the South of England, many of them in Sussex, Surrey, Essex, and the Home Counties. These included several high-profile mail robberies on the London-Brighton line.

The production team is keen to contact any former officers, either from BTP, Met, or county police forces, with knowledge of these cases.

One of these was a major high-profile robbery on 20 February 1963 of the ‘Irish Mail’ train from Euston to Holyhead. They are very keen to contact any officers (including from BTP) who investigated this offence, and understand that a DS Boucher and a DI Harrop may have been involved.

If you are able to help with the above request please email Assistant Producer, Stephen Walsh directly at: stevewalshmedia@icloud.com or call 07711 021050.

Many thanks,

Roy Scanes
