Welfare Visits Required
Dear members,

Our welfare officers are quite busy at the moment and we would be really grateful if anyone has a bit of spare time could assist by visiting either of the below

Former Pc Peter Hewitt MBE is currently in Basildon hospital and has been for the last 5 weeks having been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Peter was a dog handler for about 17 years and was medically retired after a serious assault. His wife Irene is partially sighted and doesn’t drive and is currently having to take taxis to visit Peter. If anyone is able to visit Peter or lives near Tilbury and could give Irene a lift to the hospital this would be greatly appreciated.

If you are able to assist please contact:

Irene Hewitt on 01375 857115 (put 1470 in first if you have a withheld number as they have call blocking)

Our Chairman, Bob Good, recently visited Mike Humberston, now living in a residential care home in Heybridge.

Now in his mid-eighties, Mike’s memory is not as good as it was, but Bob found the visit very worthwhile. With a little prompting, Mike is keen to reminisce about his time with Essex and members who knew him are encouraged to consider visiting.

Mike’s daughter lives nearby, she visits regularly and has asked that initial contact be made via our Welfare Officer, Tim Stokes: email Tim from here or mobile: 0771 008 6589
